The EP 0 489 455 relates to a rail vehicle wheel, for example for a tramway. From prior art it was known to use rubber fillings in a V-shaped compartment that was formed between a wheel centreep0489455_fig3_colorized and a flange tyre to reduce the emitted noise. The inventor noticed that the known rubber fillings, for example two separate, substantially Z-formed rings, which were mounted contiguously, offered relatively low resiliency in radial direction. The inventive idea was to use a single U-shaped rubber ring where the angle between the flanks of the U-formed rubber and the wheel axis was preferrably 60° und thus by far greater as the angle known from the prior art rubber fillings
